Welcome

me

My name is Wendy Davis. I am currently enrolled as a part-time, online student in QUT’s M. IT (Library and Information Sciences). If all goes to plan I will finish at the end of 2014.

My goal is to use my information professional skills to develop a career in the cultural heritage/GLAM sector.

This site functions as my ePortfolio. It contains an ongoing blog, my twitter feed and artefacts from my coursework. It takes its name from a Seinfeld episode set around the New York Public Library.

I am an avid Twitterer and have developed a love of Instagram and Soundcloud. I use Facebook because I have to 😉

I am currently the Chair of ALIA’s New Generation Advisory Committee (NGAC).

Until the end of 2013, I worked at CQUniversity’s Bundaberg campus as a lecturer in a tertiary preparatory program, teaching academic essay writing. I was also the Head of Program and a Course Coordinator. Previous study includes an undergraduate degree in music, majoring in piano, another undergraduate degree in arts, with a double major in English, an Honours degree in cultural studies, a Graduate Diploma of Further Education and Training, and last but not least a PhD in cultural studies. That’s right, I seem to like learning!

I am currently employed as an Assistant Project Officer with Bundaberg Regional Galleries at the Bundaberg Regional Council.

In my spare time, I teach the piano, accompany the Bundaberg Orpheus Singers, blog at my non-academic blog The Spiralling Shape, listen to music, watch good TV and film.
